Yesterday, the event on the presentation of the FIDE Belgian reports took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Belgium.
This event was the occasion of discussing the three Belgian reports related to:
▪️ Emergency Law – drafted by Merijn Chamon, Julian Clarenne, Paul Dermine, Mathieu Leloup & Sofia Vandenbosch – presented by Prof. Leloup;
▪️ EU Digital Economy (DSA/DMA) – drafted by Alexandre de Streel, Michèle Ledger & Florian Jacques – presented by Prof. de Streel
▪️ Energy Solidarity & Security – drafted by Frederik Vandendriessche & Natan Vermeersch, presented by Natan Vermeersch
Organised by BEDER, this gathering brought together academics, practitioners, representatives of Belgian and European administrations, and members of the Court of Justice of the European Union. We had the honor of welcoming Judge paul nihoul, whose presence enriched the discussions.
The exchanges were intense and insightful, shedding light on the challenges surrounding these crucial topics and the broader application of EU law.
This event perfectly illustrates BEDER’s mission: connecting EU law practitioners in Belgium and fostering meaningful dialogue between key actors. It also highlights the essential role of the FIDE conference, which strengthens communication between national legal communities and the architects of EU law.
A big thank you to all participants for these valuable discussions – and see you very soon in Katowice, for the FIDE congress organised by the Polish Association of European Law!
Are you a practitioner of EU Law in Belgium, willing to join the BEDER’s community? Don’t hesitate to ask for your membership!
